The TV show that ruptured Vogue Williams' knee will be finally axed after 34 celebrity injuries

The Jump was a show that trained celebs in winter Olympic sports.

IN MARCH THIS year, Irish model Vogue Williams was forced to undergo a knee operation that left her on crutches for three months after sustaining an injury on Channel 4 show The Jump.

The controversial show followed celebrities as they learned winter Olympics sports. According to The Mirror, Channel 4 have decided the show is too expensive to continue making, due to insurance plans and medical costs.

In four series of The Jump, there has been 34 celebrity injuries. That’d put you off skiing.

A source said that The Jump ‘has been on borrowed time for a while now as the injuries mount up series after series’. The Huffington Post have noted that many celebrities are still recovering from injuries that they sustained on the TV show, which was hosted by Davina McCall.

It’s a wonder it took so long to cancel. Here are a list of some of the injuries celebrities sustained during production:

  • Olympic gymnast Beth Tweddle broke two vertebrae in her neck and had to have part of her hip removed.
  • Actress Tina Hobley is still using a cane, a year after injuring her knee and shoulder on the show.
  • Polish ballroom dancer Ola Jordan found herself with a cruciate ligament injury in her knee as well as a hip injury in 2015 and is still not fully recovered. She believes her leg will ‘never be the same’ again.
  • Girls Aloud’s Sarah Harding also suffered with ligament damage.
  • Former swimmer Rebecca Adlington dislocated her shoulder.
  • Made in Chelsea star Mark-Francis Vandell fractured his ankle.
  • Former Olympic sprinter Linford Christie pulled his hamstring.
  • Spencer Matthews dislocated his shoulder on the TV show.
  • Bradley Wiggins sustained a non-displaced fracture.
  • Vogue Williams ruptured her knee on the show.
  • Amy Willerton who replaced Vogue Williams also ended up with an injury shortly after joining the show.

Channel 4 confirmed that the show would be ‘rested for a year’, but it’s likely that the show will quietly be removed from Channel 4′s schedule.

A spokesperson for the network told Metro.co.uk ’with such a huge amount of winter sport on screen at the start of 2018′, it makes sense to cut the show from the schedule.
